About Us

Home Sweet Homelessness is an act of love, honoring those who have inspired the vision and relationships that sustain the work.  Here is some information about us, how we came together, how we hope to help you in the work you do to narrow the social distance between those with homes and those without.

Our Mission

• To provide an affordable, effective, enjoyable and energizing learning and training tool for those determined to narrow the social distance between those with homes and those without them;
• To honor the design work of the shelter residents whose work became Home Sweet Homelessness by increasing awareness about homelessness and the people who experience it, opening paths to more enjoyable and understanding relationships, and stimulating more compassionate and effective services and programs.

Our Vision

Home Sweet Homelessness will be brought by educators, advocates, and trainers into schools, church halls, courts, hospitals, libraries, and agencies across the country.  Sitting around tables playing the game together, people who have never experienced homelessness and who have, will leave feeling more appreciation for each other, and more determination to do something together about homelessness.  Schools, agencies and organizations will use the experience of the game as a way of enriching the experience of teachers, volunteers, staff, advocates, congregations, and community leaders, and use the game experience as an effective emotional and cognitive foundation for strategic and program planning.
